Hosta (Plantain Lily) can be easily grown in evenly moist, organically rich, well-drained soils in part shade to full shade. Best in part shade (some morning sun or sun dappled conditions). Established plants have some tolerance for dry shade (particularly plants with thick leaves). Full size and quality form are best achieved with consistent moisture. Water is best applied directly to the soil beneath the leaves. Divide plants as needed in Spring or Fall. Plant in locations protected from wind.

Hosta (Plantain Lily) Great Expectation is a large to giant Hosta cultivar with thick, puckered, variegated yellow leaves with wide, irregular blue-green margins.

Light: Shade to part shade
Watering: Medium. Evenly moist, well-drained soils. Do not let soil to completely dry out
Flower: White, above the foliage. Large, dense masses of white flowers on 24” scapes in midsummer.
Blooms: June - July
Size: 20" x 40". Forms clumps to 34″ wide
Attracts: Hummingbirds. Pollinators friendly.
Potted dormant perennials can be kept in a well-lit cool/cold area until ready for Spring planting. Do not allow them to completely dry out.
